LOA – Linked Open Archives (www.linkedopenarchives.com) is at the same time a methodology, a technological environment and a digital hub online, which is able to apply and to learn the new standard Records in Contexts (RiC), recently proposed by ICA Expert Group on Archival Description (ICA/EGAD).
It is designed to study the conceptual model RiC-CM and to apply the ontology RiC-O to funds and collections from a variety archives. Such as the archives of projects like “Diaspora Africana no Brasil”, “Memorável Samba”, “Agua!nabara”; also to personal archives and hopefully to other archives in the future.
The methodology first uses a digital crowdsourcing transcription paleography, by the Transkribus (https://transkribus.ai/) platform; then describing and storing records using the digital repository Omeka S (https://omeka.org/); followed by a triple store knowledge graph and a SPARQL endpoint, using the GraphDB system (https://www.ontotext.com/products/graphdb/) to publish its data in a Linked Open Data (LOD) environment. The objective is to allow the user to make several searches in this environment on the SPARNATURAL platform (https://sparnatural.eu/), resulting in a more intuitive search.
